(MyFoxBoston.com) â Convicted serial killer Gary Lee Sampson was flown to a new facility in North Carolina on July 11.
Sampson was moved to the facility to undergo psychiatric testing. According to court documents, the 54-year-old was flown from an Indiana prison to the federal medical facility in Butner, North Carolina for that testing.
The move came after a judge ruled in June that Sampson may be suffering from mental illness.
He plead guilty and was sentenced to death more than a decade ago for a 2001 murder spree that left two Mass. men and one N.H. man dead. However, the sentence was thrown out because a juror lied about her familyâs criminal history.
Sampson's is set to be re-sentenced in February.
