NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. — A local contractor who promised to build a family's pool will soon face a new criminal charge, Boston 25 News has learned.

A Northbridge family told Boston 25 earlier this month they paid Jeff Trifone in full, but he never did the work to install a pool in their backyard.

Police say they have issued a summons for Trifone to appear on a felony larceny charge for not doing a job he was paid to do.

According to police, Trifone has made a career out of elaborate schemes to steal people's money.

The latest came upon the Marston's of Northbridge and their son, Zack.

The 14-year-old has cerebral palsy and the family told us water therapy is the best thing to help relax his muscles.

"My son needs that therapy and without a pool, I can’t get it done,” Mike Marston explained.

The Marstons found Trifone online, signed a contract and paid him little by little until the project was paid in full.

But Trifone never delivered the pool.

We were there Sunday as precision pool of Amesbury began pouring the concrete. They offered to install the pool for free after they saw the Marstons’ story on Boston 25 News.

Meanwhile, the Marstons reported Trifone to the police.

Monday, police told us they issued a summons for him to appear in Uxbridge next month. Police are charging him with larceny over $250 for false pretense.

Boston 25 asked Trifone to comment about this story, he told us via text message we were wrong.

That number is now disconnected.

But, the Marstons say Trifone has been harassing them since they contacted us and police.

“Calls at two o'clock in the morning, four o'clock in the morning...texts,” said Brooke Marston.

The Marstons hope the rest of the ordeal might soon be behind them.

Trifone is due in court next month.
