LEOMINSTER, Mass. — James and Richie Powers were more than brothers, they were best friends and ball players.

But two years ago, Richie Powers died at the age of 26 from a rare form of cancer.

“We miss him a lot. You know the whole family, we feel a big void in the family,” his mother Jane Power said.

Before Richie died, he gave his younger brother a cherished gift – his custom-designed baseball glove.

James brought the glove to every game, but this Thursday night it was in his bag in his truck parked in the driveway when it was stolen.

“I mean it's a glove he would have had for his whole life. He would have treasured it. and had it for his entire life,” Jane said.

The glove is blue in color, similar to Leominster High’s uniforms, and had James’ name engraved in it.

“It would mean the world to all of us if we could get it back,” Jane said.

If someone has the glove they can drop it off between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the lobby of the high school.
