BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- All of this snow is bad for some businesses. Many area shops, restaurants and service providers are reporting drops as steep as 75-percent.
FOX25's Joy Lim Nakrin exposes the "cooling effect" on local companies, starting at the Farmstead Table in Newton, where food is a way of life.
So when business cools, it burns, especially at Farmstead Table where the owners say, "It's everything, it's our livelihood, it's everything we've ever worked for."
The nonstop snow has meant a steep drop in diners as well. Restaurant owners say the decrease in foot traffic is really hurting them, and the snow piles covering parking spots and T service cancellation doesn't help either.
A Gilda's Clothing store, spring fashion is on display, but business is in hibernation.
"Normally our customers would come in right away when they hear the new lines are coming in. Well, they can't get in!" the owner said.
Profits there have plummeted some 75-percent.
It's a similar story at Centre Realty Group, where inventory is buried in ice. Agents say if landlords and sellers haven't shoveled, then you can't show a house.
Area businesses are just banking on an end to this snow.
