Bullets fly through family's car in Dorchester

DORCHESTER, Mass. — A Brockton woman got lost while driving in Dorchester and ended up in the line of fire, literally.

“I think it was just the wrong place at the wrong time,” said Amber Castaneda. “For a split second, I was like was that firecrackers?”

They weren’t firecrackers, but instead gunshots. Three bullets pierced Castaneda’s vehicle, one busting through the back window and hitting the windshield.

“They said if he was two inches taller that would have took him right out. Would have got him right in the back of his head,” Castaneda said.

Castaneda’s 6-year-old son Jaxon was sitting in the back seat at the time.

Jaxon is fine physically, but the entire family is shaken.

Jaxson’s 8-year-old sister Layla made a drawing of the incident with God in the back of the car, protecting the family from the bullets.

Castaneda says it was God watching over the family.

“I definitely believe like there was a higher presence there. I'm very religious and I believe in God,” she told FOX25.
