BOSTON — Beach season is almost here. If you're looking to get into shape, you can do it without breaking the bank.

We're looking at how to stretch your dollar while kicking your workouts into high gear.

PERSONAL TRAINING

Personal training can range from $50 to hundreds of dollars per session, but Janelle Nicolo owner of Body Ambition in Middleton told us there are ways to take your workout up a notch without it being a budget buster.

“A lot of people come in at this time of year because they are looking to get fit for that summer vacation. Personal training can benefit everyone, even if it's just a few sessions,” Nicolo said. “You don’t need to buy a huge package of personal training to see results.”

TEAM UP WITH A BUDDY

Nicolo says working out with a buddy not only helps with workout motivation, but will chop the cost of working out with a personal trainer.

Many trainers will allow you to split the cost of a session in a group setting.

"Grab a friend and save money that way by sharing the hour," Nicolo said.

VIRTUAL FITNESS

Some fitness pros are training their clients over the Internet. Nicole told FOX25 this a great way to get some expert advice without spending much money.

"It's cheaper by doing it virtually. We'll build a program for them and give them video links so they can work out at their own gyms," Nicolo said.

VARIETY DOESN'T HAVE TO BREAK THE BANK

Spinning, Barre, Yoga:  Finding ways to sweat away the pounds can melt away your money, but there's an app called Class Pass that helps you attend a variety classes at different gyms without committing.

FOX25 spoke with Marissa Cruz who uses it.

"There’s such a wide variety of studios. If you were trying to go for the same amount, it would be triple the price.  Class Pass lets you do gym time as well. So I use class pass for everything," Cruz said.

OTHER WAYS TO SAVE

- Look for membership discounts if you pay upfront rather than month to month.  Be sure to read the fine print.

- Some health clubs offer family member or group deals

- Be flexible.  Gyms may offer discounts if you agree to go only during off-peak hours or on certain days.

- Check your gym membership package. You could be paying for services you don't use, like towel service and tanning.  You may be able to opt out and get a less expensive rate.
