BRIDGEWATER, Mass. — A student at Bridgewater State College has been arrested after allegedly strangling a woman on campus.
Police said 22-year-old Adolphus Nwokeji choked the woman at Crimson Hall Thursday night. The victim told police she had a hard time breathing, and that he forced her head into a bathroom sink.
A friend of the victim witnessed the alleged attack and kicked Nwokeji in the stomach to stop him.
Nwokeji has been released on a $500 cash bail and has been ordered to say off of the campus. He was going to study abroad in Japan later in the fall, but the judge made him surrender his passport. He is due back in court on Oct. 10 for a pretrial hearing.
Authorities say, prior to this assault the 22-year-old allegedly called the woman wanting sex.
