Boston Public Schools names next superintendent

BOSTON — The Boston Public School committee has selected a new superintendent.

Dr. Brenda Cassellius, who most recently stepped down as commissioner of education for the state of Minnesota, will take over as head of Boston Public Schools.

Two other candidates were in the running.

Cassellius still must formally accept the position and need to work out a salary and starting day with the committee.
