Hundreds of mayors from across the country, including Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, are in Washington, D.C. this week for the US Conference of Mayors. With the partial government shutdown now on Day 33, many mayors say they're looking for solutions to help federal workers in their home cities.
Mayor Walsh, a Democrat, says there are about 7,000 federal workers in the city of Boston and he’s considering some local policy changes to help employees working without pay.

Many agencies and organizations in Boston rely on grant money from the government to operate and the continued shutdown could prevent those funds from being dispersed.
