BOSTON — A recent study just confirmed what we might already know: Boston has the worst traffic in the U.S.

According to the Inrix study, Boston drivers lost, on average, 164 hours due to traffic congestion.

That means Boston drivers lost up to $2,291 per year due to congestion.

"That doesn’t mean we’re okay with the status quo — far from it," Boston Mayor Marty Walsh said in a posting to the city's website. "Excessive congestion is harming our environment, our economy, and our quality of life right now."

Boston was the only U.S. city included in the top 10 most congested cities worldwide as part of the findings.

The site lists what the city is doing to ease congestion and diversify transit options for residents and commuters.
