Bay Staters deal with Blizzard of 2015 aftermath

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) --Up to 3 feet of snow fell on Massachusetts during what was dubbed the Blizzard of 2015 and Thursday Bay Staters are dealing with the aftermath.

Sidewalks have become more narrow, the number of parking spots has decreased and back roads are still not clear. Highways, however, seem to be easier to navigate, according to some travelers.

"By far, the toughest thing today is trying to merge onto an on ramp," one driver said. "Some of these snow banks are taller than this car. So when I come up here, it's hard to see if there is a car on the other side of the snowbank, before I get onto 95."

And snowbanks are not just an issue on the highways, but also in parking lots.

"These parking lot snow banks are huge, so hard to see around," another driver said.

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh said plows will get to every corner of the city and asked for residents to have patience throughout the process.

However, those like Olivia Gardner who didn't want to wait, grabbed a shovel.

“We've been lucky. I knew it was gonna come eventually," she said after shoveling her car out on 3rd Street in Southie.

Unfortunately, Gardner ran into another issue while clearing snow.

“There's just no where to put it," she said.

So where does all the snow go? The city apparently has two snow farms in the city for the stuff.

The hope is that the streets will be clear Thursday so students can get back in the classroom, however, places like Worcester have already canceled school for the day.

The mayor urged residents to be cautious when out on the streets and to respect each other throughout the storm cleanup, especially since we may get hit again on Friday.
