BRAINTREE, Mass. — Tom Brady has been reincarnated into cake form at a local Braintree bakery, complete with a Lombardi trophy.
"We just did this as part of our celebration," said Montilio's Bakery owner George Montilio.
After the Patriots comeback win, Montilio knew he wanted to whip up a life-size cake of TB12, and called his staff, preparing them for the baking challenge ahead.
It took 130 hours of labor, 100 pounds of sugar, 40-50 pounds of flour, 30 pounds of eggs and 50 pounds of fondant to make the cake version of the quarterback.
His arms and legs are made out of rice krispies, which the bakers had to bend and roll to the right angle and dimensions. The head is made out of Styrofoam. Plumbing pipe holds it up and together.
The cake finally debuted Saturday morning.
"It's been a long morning, but totally worth it. With all the kids coming in and taking pictures, some people don't even think it's here, then they look at it and they're like 'is that a cake?' Yes, that's a cake," said Montilio.
Word about the cake got out, and people started coming in to take photos with it. Montilio said the cake should be up for a day or two because it doesn't tend to stand up well at room temperature.
This isn't the first time Montilio's has created a Patriots player out of cake; they made a Gronk cake for a private party at Gillette a while back, and Gronkowski himself saw the cake.
"He hugged himself, himself made out of cake," he said.
Montilio said if the Patriots win next year, they may make more players out of cake. The bakery take orders for life-size cake and they can make anyone.T
