WELLESLEY, Mass. — A 28-foot diameter, 25-ton globe is being moved from Babson College's campus Friday.
The globe, commissioned by founder Roger Babson in 1947, was the largest rotating globe in the world for decades.
Before being placed in its new home, a team of engineers will work to make the globe rotate again - which it hasn't done since the early 1990's.
The globe will move to a temporary home in Babson's Trim Parking Lot, where it will be refurbished.
After that, it will be moved to on-campus space Centennial Park in May of 2019 - which is also being restored.
The globe was originally dedicated to Babson in 1955.
