BOSTON — Officers subdued a woman they said was wielding a knife, possibly trying to commit "suicide by cop."
Police said the officers went to a residence on Grove Street to check on a woman at the request of her father. They found the 32-year-old had barricaded herself in the apartment and was shouting that she was planning to kill herself. Officers forced their way in, and then the woman charged them, swinging a large knife violently, said police.
At that time, an officer deployed a beanbag round, which struck the woman, disarming her.
Police secured her and she was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
