ANDOVER, Mass. -- The hockey coaches accused of withholding water and food from players after losing games have been cleared of wrong doing during a school investigations.
According to a spokesperson for Andover High School, DCF was notified of two reported incidents. In one instance, players were forced to practice without water after losing a game. The other part of the investigation regards allegations that players were denied food on the trip back from an away game they lost.
The allegations were first reported on Jan. 25, and by the first week of February a DCF investigation had apparently cleared the coaches.
"It is my intention to reinstate the ice hockey coaches as soon as we can if I can confirm that the DCF investigation has reached the same conclusion. However, at this point we have not received any communication of determination from the agency," he said.
Andover High School principal Philip Conrad told Boston 25 News the school was going to conduct a separate investigation, and Tuesday afternoon Conrad announced that the coaches were cleared.
Members of the hockey team said they're thankful this is over, and excited about returning to what matters -- winning.
“Coach Kuchar being back, a huge gain for the team and we're all glad he's back and we're ready to make a playoff run,” team manager Pete Stylos said.
