Alleged murder weapon shown in Hernandez trial before snow delay

BOSTON — The double murder trial of former New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez will be put on hold as a major snowstorm rolls through Massachusetts.

On Monday, the .38 caliber Smith and Wesson Hernandez allegedly used in the murders of Safiro Furtado and Daniel De'Abreu was brought out in court.

The weapon was found 11 months after the double murder in the trunk of a disabled car on Interstate 91 in western Massachusetts.

The driver was identified as 19-year-old Jailene Diaz-Ramos is from Bristol, Connecticut, Hernandez's hometown.

“There was a revolver, as well as three rounds of ammunition as well as some condoms,” Mass. State Police Trooper Paul Aten explained in court.

Diaz-Ramos told authorities the gun belonged to Andrew Alkorn, also known as ‘Chicago.’

Antoine singleton testified Alcorn and Hernandez are loosely related through marriage and both spent time at the same home in Bristol.

At the end of the day, it was announced the trial would be postponed until Wednesday as a powerful snowstorm was set to move through Boston Tuesday.
