85-year-old woman killed in 3-car crash in Brookline

BROOKLINE, Mass. — An 85-year-old woman was killed in a three-car crash in Brookline on Sunday afternoon, according to a release from local police. That victim has been identified as Judith Spencer of West Roxbury.

Police say Spencer was a passenger in a car that was being driven by her daughter and also occupied by her 10-year-old granddaughter. The trio was traveling south on Hammond Street in Brookline when they were struck by a car that had veered into oncoming traffic.

The driver of that car was a 65-year-old Brookline man. All four people were transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where Spencer was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The 65-year-old man also struck a second vehicle in the crash. That car contained five occupants - including an 8-year-old and a 10-year-old.

The three adults in that vehicle were treated at Brigham and Women’s Hospital while the children were sent to Boston Children’s Hospital. All five of them have been released.

Brookline Police continue to investigate the crash. There has been no word on if the 65-year-old driver will face charges or not.
