8 arrested in Lowell after drug, gun raid

LOWELL, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Eight people are facing charges after a state and federal law enforcement raid netted illegal guns, drugs and cash.

The investigation looked into the trafficking of illegal handguns, rifles, shotguns and illegal drugs, according to the Middlesex County District Attorney's office. Law enforcement obtained more than a dozen search warrants before the raid and ended up seizing eight guns, which included an "illegally modified sawed-off shotgun," more than 130 grams of heroin, and more than 40 grams of cocaine and prescription pills.

Additionally, authorities seized more than $11,000 in cash and rare coins.
Victor Vega, 48, of Lowell, was charged with committing multiple drug offenses, including trafficking heroin over 100 grams, and drug violation near a school/park. His bail was set at $150,000 cash.

Robert Rosa, 38, of Lowell, was charged with both firearm offenses, including possession of a  firearm as an armed career criminal, and and drug trafficking offenses. His bail was also set at $150,000 cash.
 
Naida Rodriguez, 53, of Lowell, was charged with trafficking in heroin over 100 grams and possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance. She was held overnight without bail, according to the DA's office.
 
Glenda Nieves, 22, and Noel Toledo, 24, both of Lowell, were charged with distribution of a Class B substance. Nieves was released on personal recognizance, and Toledo had bail revoked on a previous charge, and a judge set a $20,000 cash bail on the newest charges.
 
Michael Lopez-Rios, 27, and 24-year-old Alexis Nuñez, both of Lowell, were charged with distribution of a Class B substance and drug violation near a school/park. A judge set Lopez-Rios' bail at $6,000 cash, and $500 for Nuñez's bail.
