BOSTON — With the Boston Marathon on Monday, Sunday was a great day for the Boston Red Sox to pay tribute to a local woman who finished the World Marathon Challenge early this year.

But there were plenty of surprises in store for Becca Pizzi.

The Belmont mom gained international attention in January when she became the first American women to compete in seven marathons on seven continents in seven days.

When she got to Fenway, not only did she find out she was throwing out the first pitch, but her boyfriend of over five years, Joe Stilwell, proposed to her on the pitcher's mound.

She knew she was being honored before the Sox game Sunday. The Red Sox gave her a "16 Pizzi" jersey because Monday will mark her 16th Boston Marathon.

Becca still had the composure to throw out the first pitch!

Congrats to the happy couple, and good luck in tomorrow's race!
