WASHINGTON, D.C. — Five years ago Monday night, President Obama announced the death of Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden.
Back in 2011, SEAL team six stormed Bin Laden's compound and killed the terrorist leader.
Bin Laden is believed to have ordered the Sept. 11 attacks and had been on the run for several years.
On the anniversary of the announcement, when discussing Bin Laden's death, President Obama was presented with the fact that the last person Bin Laden saw on earth was an American.
"And-- hopefully at that moment-- he understood that the American people hadn't forgotten the some 3,000 people who he had killed," Obama responded.
The CIA tweeted Sunday as if the raid was happening live.
When the announcement was made late Sunday night in 2011, people celebrated the death of man who changed how the country views terrorism.
