As part of it's annual Restaurant Awards, Wine Spectator has recognized Massachusetts restaurants based on their wine menu.
Forty-eight restaurants around the state made the 2016 list. Those awarded are divided into three categories: the Award of Excellence, Best of Award of Excellence and Grand Award.
Award of Excellence includes restaurants whose wine lists have a well-chosen assortment and have a thematic match to the menu in both price and style. Best of Award of Excellence means that the restaurants offer more extensive selections with depth and breadth across several regions.
The Grand Award is an elite award and the restaurant delivers serous breadth of top producers, outstanding depth in mature vintages, excellent harmony with the menu and superior presentation.
Two Massachusetts received Grand Awards, Blantyre in Lenox and Topper's at the Wauwinet in Nantucket.
