BROCKTON, Mass. — Twenty-three cats were taken out from a Brockton house Monday after the city determined the house was unfit for cats and humans.
The Brockton Enterprise reports that police, fire officials, animal control and MSPCA-Angell visited the home, at 22 Colgate Road, after a resident called, asking for help removing the animals.
"These people went to animal control because they needed help," MSPCA-Angell Director of Law Enforcement Richard LeBlond told The Enterprise. "People end up with too many cats and end up giving us a call. They realize they're in over their head."
Dressed in white body suits and wearing air purifying masks, officials removed the cats, putting them in pet carriers and loading them into a MSPCA-Angell van.
The cats rescued Monday will be evaluated and will receive any necessary medical care. LeBlond told the Enteprise they will eventually be put up for adoption.
Officials said the house will be condemned.
