A 22-year-old man collapsed while playing a basketball game in Lowell Thursday night and died, according to police.
The unidentified man was playing the game at the Kathryn P. Stoklosa Middle School outdoor court around 7 p.m. when he suddenly collapsed.
Lowell police Chief Timothy Crowley described the incident as a "catastrophic medical emergency."
No other information has been released.
The man was taken to Lowell General Hospital where he was pronounced dead after CPR attempts proved to be unsuccessful.
