2 children killed in 3-car crash in Ludlow

LUDLOW, Mass. — Two children were killed after the car they were in crashed into two other vehicles in Ludlow on Wednesday afternoon.

Ludlow Police and Fire responded to the crash at around 2:53 p.m. in the area of Shawnigan Drive and Russell Street. State Police were called in to assist with the crash.

Preliminary investigation shows a 2003 Dodge Durango, occupied by an adult man and four children, was traveling eastbound on Shawnigan Drive when the driver suddenly lost control of the car.

The driver, later identified as the father of the four chilren, crossed over to the westbound side and collided with a Ford tanker truck. The Durango then continued traveling eastbound, out of control, until it crashed into a Dodge Caravan.

All four children in the Durango were taken to Baystate Medical Center, where two of them were later pronounced dead.

The victims have been identified as Jadyn Lamas, 9 and Natalya Lamas, 7, both of Ludlow.

Both the driver and the passenger in the Dodge Caravan were transported to Baystate Medical Center with serious injuries while the driver of the tanker truck was uninjured.

Authorities are actively investigating this crash.
