SAUGUS, Mass. — A 13-year-old boy died Sunday after being pulled from Walden Pond in the Lynn Woods Reservation.

Around 2 p.m., a 911 call reported a 13-year-old swimmer was in distress at the reservoir in Lynn Woods, which borders Saugus, Lynn and Lynnfield. The boy was swimming in the reservoir with a group of friends, said the Essex County District Attorney.

Saugus and Lynn emergency officials responded, along with the State Police Air Wing and the Cambridge Police Dive Team. Crews immediately began searching the pond and around 2:30 p.m., Saugus Fire found the victim and began resuscitation.

He was taken to a Lynn Union Hospital where he was pronounced dead from an apparent drowning.

Essex County District Attorney said no foul play is suspected.

According to the City of Lynn's website, no swimming or boating is permitted in any of the reservoirs at Lynn Woods because they are used for Lynn's drinking water supply.
