COVENTRY, R.I. — A 13-year-old boy commandeered and crashed an ambulance while he was being evaluated in Rhode Island Thursday night.
The boy was in an ambulance at the Central Coventry Fire Station, WPRI reports, when he climbed into the driver seat and started driving.
Police said the keys were in the ignition when the boy was being evaluated.
The 13-year-old drove it across the road and down an embankment, hitting a motorcyclist in the process.
According to police, it is protocol to leave the keys in the ignition.
Everyone is expected to be okay.
