13-year-old charged with shooting 12-year-old in East Taunton

A 13-year-old boy is charged with shooting a 12-year-old boy in East Taunton, police told Boston 25 News.

The shooting happened on Highstone Street Monday afternoon.

The 13-year-old told police he felt threatened, went home, unlocked a gun safe and then went back and shot the 12-year-old once with a .22 long rifle.

Police said there appears to have been an ongoing feud between the two boys. The 13-year-old boy lives on Rhode Island Road, very close to the victim.

Police said the bullet went through the 12-year-old boy's left arm, exited by his elbow and then entered his lower chest where it remained. The boy was taken to Rhode Island Hospital. His condition is unknown.

Police arrested the 13-year-old boy as his home. He's charged with one count of Assault and Battery with a deadly weapon and discharging a weapon within 500 feet of a dwelling .
