WILMINGTON, Mass. — Most parents will agree: it’s not always easy going out in public with small children -- especially if they’re hungry or tired.
Brianna Lelos was inside the Wilmington Target when her daughter, Isabella, threw a fit and decided she didn't want to get up off the floor.
"It was late, I’ll blame myself. We probably should have gone a little bit earlier," Lelos told Boston 25 news.
Every mom and dad has been in this situation: cranky kid, temper tantrum in front of everybody. But before Brianna could decide how to handle this, a stranger swooped in to help.
"She sat on the floor, she asked her her name, she was trying to talk to her, I mean, as you can tell, she's not always the happiest," Lelos said.
That young lady who immediately began helping is a Target employee named Liliana.
"Liliana came over and just plopped herself on the floor next to her," Lelos said. "She started playing with her, trying to get her to stand up and play a game. She ended up standing up for her. She was just so sweet, so kind."
Lelos wanted to make sure Liliana got the recognition she deserved, so she tweeted out the picture she took, along with kind message.
Target responded to her message: “thank you for reaching out to us about how we helped your Target little have a better visit .. we will forward this awesome feedback to our Wilmington store leadership team.”
Lelos is happy she could share this special moment with the world, but she says there’s also an important message to take away from this.
"Be kind to others, especially moms. Moms get a lot of shame for not being married, being young, etc, especially during the holiday season," she said.
Remember those words and remember this picture the next time you see a crying child and an overwhelmed parent.
