JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Action News Jax) -- Bryshere Y. Gray, better known as Yazz the Greatest, is known and loved by millions of fans who watch "Empire" weekly.
But the 21-year-old star keeps much of his personal life private. Last week, Action News Jax sat down with Yazz to dig deeper and find out more about the young actor.
Here are three things you might not have known:
1. While his “Empire” character, Hakeem, is often selfish, Yazz the Greatest is involved in philanthropy.
“I’m touring the world and giving back to the kids with my foundation YTG,” Yazz said.
The foundation, You Are the Greatest, works to provide high school students with scholarships.
Yazz also reportedly tours juvenile facilities to help kids at risk.
2. The Philadelphia city council adopted a resolution on Jan. 29 honoring Yazz for “his positive contributions to pop culture as a rapper and actor, as well as his recent successful performance in the television show 'Empire.'"
3. Yazz has been involved in music since high school.
“Other than 'Empire,' I’m working on my album,” he said.
