Another day, another HEAT ADVISORY. In fact, it will extend into Wednesday in much of Massachusetts too. Between highs in the 90s and elevated humidity, it will feel like the upper 90s and lower 100s (heat indices). Stay hydrated and take breaks to beat the heat safely.
Skies will be bright most of the day. Scattered clouds may develop in a few communities this afternoon with the risk for an isolated shower 2-7 PM. The best chance looks like interior towns. Most will remain dry, hot and humid.
The rainfall deficit for the year in southern New England ranges from 5-8″. We need the rain. That shortage is responsible for the dry and moderate drought conditions across the region (along with above average temperatures). Unfortunately, rain looks scattered rather than widespread tomorrow.
A cold front will dip in from the north and west tonight. A passing shower is possible, especially in western MA. I don’t expect much in central or eastern MA.
As the mercury rises tomorrow, showers will develop near the front. We expect most rainfall south of the Pike where the front is expected to reside during the day. Communities that get wet will probably receive 0.1-0.2″, hopefully a little more in some spots. But others will pass completely on the rain and tap into partly cloudy skies. That’s the nature of scattered rain! Severe weather is unlikely.
LATE WEEK IMPROVEMENTS
With the front speeding up and coming through Wednesday, relief will arrive sooner too! Humidity will drop into a more comfortable range Thursday. Temperatures will continue to cool as we head toward the weekend. Enjoy!
