After weeks of speculation it appears Rob Gronkowski will be returning next season.
According to the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport there was some merit to all the rumors since the Super Bowl. "He did ponder retirement. He did discuss possibly moving to another venue, WWE for one, maybe Hollywood, but the belief now is those things will come after his football career. This belief now is that Gronkowski will continue his football career with the Patriots. I know it was a difficult year physically for him, certainly he's been through a lot."
Gronk has two years remaining on his contract, but is currently the 4th highest paid tight end in the NFL. It's possible Gronk may be looking to restructure his deal this offseason; but according to Rapoport he's putting off the WWE at least for one more season.
"Right now I have not talked to one person who believes Rob Gronkowski will retire. The expectation is he is back in a Patriots uniform in 2018."
The expectation is that #Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski will return for 2018 after pondering his future, I’m told. He may never make a grand announcement, but the belief is entertainment opportunities (acting WWE) will wait. pic.twitter.com/WwbLZS4zfy— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) February 28, 2018
