Red Sox release Pitcher Steven Wright

DEDHAM — Say goodbye to Steven Wright.  On Friday the Red Sox released the veteran pitcher

Wright is 35 years old and the knuckleballer, who only pitched in six games for the Red Sox last season, is eligible for arbitration next season that would have had the Sox on the hook for approximately $1.5 million.

It has been a rough go for Wright since his All Star season for the Red Sox in 2016.  That year he was 13-6 with an ERA of 3.33.  But because of a combination of injuries and suspensions Wright had only pitched 84 total innings in the last three seasons.
