Patriots fall short against Lions, suffer second straight loss

The Patriots squared off with the Lions in a Week 3 matchup on Sunday, pitting Bill Belichick against his former defensive coordinator and current Lions head coach Matt Patricia.

In the end, Patricia got the upper hand, taking home the 26-10 win at home for his first victory as a head coach.

The Patriots entered the game with a 1-1 record, while the Lions were looking for their first win of the 2018 campaign.

The Lions went into the fourth quarter with a 20-10 lead, and held a 13-3 edge heading into the half.

Matthew Stafford was lights out in the first half, throwing a touchdown to Kenny Golladay in the second quarter.

He added another touchdown pass to Marvin Jones in the third quarter, after an interception from Ja'Whaun Bentley on the Lions' first drive of the half.

Tom Brady and the Patriots offense couldn't muster a first down in the entire first quarter, with their first touchdown coming after the Bentley interception on a pass from Brady to James White.

The Patriots will move on to their final game without Julian Edelman in the lineup, taking on the Dolphins at home. Meanwhile, the Lions will battle the Cowboys on the road.
