BOSTON - The Red Sox will get the 2020 season started at home against the Baltimore Orioles. Major League Baseball unveiled the schedule Monday night in a televised special on MLB Network.
The Sox will host the Orioles on the opening weekend of the season, with the season opener slated for Friday, July 24 at 7:30. Boston will play 40 games against teams from the American League East and 20 games against teams from the National League East.
After the Red Sox series with Baltimore, the Mets will visit Boston to play two at Fenway, followed immediately by two games at Citi Field in New York.
The Sox face the Yankees 10 times, but the first seven of those matchups will be in the Bronx. New York doesn’t travel to Boston until September 18-20.
The defending World Series champion Nationals make the trip to Fenway Park during the final weekend of August, with a three-game schedule set for August 28-30.
The Sox will play a pair of games in Philadelphia on September 8 and 9, after hosting the Phillies for two games at Fenway Park on August 18 and 19.
The regular season will wrap up for the Old Town Team with a three-game series with the Atlanta Braves from September 25 through the 27th.
