Gronk honored by Make-A-Wish Foundation

BOSTON — Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski made his first public appearance in Boston on Saturday since he announced his retirement from the team.

Gronkowski was honored at the InterContinental Hotel for all the work he's done with the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Gronk received an award for all the wishes he's made come true for kids battling life-threatening illnesses in this area and across the country. A few of them took the stage with him tonight.

Over the last several years, Gronk has granted 14 wishes for kids through this program. The three-time Super Bowl champion says some of his favorite memories were opening a football field in one boy's backyard, playing video games with kids and, of course, teaching many of them how to do the 'Gronk spike.'

As for his retirement, Gronk did not mention what’s next for him in the near future. He also wasn’t available to speak directly with the media.
