• Dolphins reportedly targeting Patriots' Brian Flores for head coach opening

It looks like Brian Flores will definitely be on the sidelines for the two matchups between the Patriots and Dolphins in the 2019 season, but it appears the debate now turns to which team he'll be coaching for.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Dolphins "have narrowed the focus of their search to Patriots defensive play-caller Brian Flores as their new head coach."

While no deal is official yet as the Patriots look to make a run in the postseason, Rapoport said the team's AFC East rival has targeted the Patriots' linebackers coach "all along" to take the reins on their sidelines once the offseason.

After former Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia's departure from the team to fill the Detroit Lions head coaching vacancy, Flores took over the defensive play-calling duties while keeping the linebackers coach title.

The news comes after Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels committed to returning to the team in 2019 after pursuing the Packers opening.
