HOUSTON - Red Sox starter David Price was taken out of Saturday night's game in Houston in the bottom of the first inning.
The team is saying Price was removed because of "flu-like symptoms." On slow-motion replay on the Fox Network television broadcast of the game, Price was seen wincing after throwing his last pitch to Michael Brantley, which Brantley hit for a single. Alex Cora immediately came to the mound and spoke with Price briefly before signaling for Colton Brewer to come in from the bullpen.
Price ends up throwing just 15 pitches in this game. Earlier this season Price was on the injured list for two weeks with elbow tendinitis. He just came off the Injured List last week and pitched against the Toronto Blue Jays.
David Price sent word to me that his arm/elbow is fine. Verified by another source as well. #RedSox announced he was removed with flu-like symptoms.— Ken Rosenthal (@Ken_Rosenthal) May 26, 2019
