David Price makes Spring Training debut

FORT MYERS — David Price pitched three innings in his spring training debut as the Red Sox lost to the Tigers 4-3.

Price allowed two hits, including a home run, struck out four and walked two.  He faced the minimum three batters in the first inning despite allowing an infield hit, walked one while facing four batters in the second inning and faced five batters in the third.

Jordy Mercer's two-run home run gave the Tigers a lead they would never relinquish. Boston scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to close the gap, but Detroit hung on to win by a run.

Alex Cora played a lineup similar to what we might see in the regular season:

1. Andrew Benintendi
2. Mookie Betts
3. Rafael Devers
4. JD Martinez
5. Xander Bogaerts
6. Mitch Moreland
7. Dustin Pedroia
8. Jackie Bradley, Jr.
9. Christian Vazquez

That lineup failed to generate any runs and only managed a total of four hits before leaving the game.
