Danny Ainge says a major trade is unlikely this offseason for Celtics

The Celtics have made big splashes in the offseason over the last few years, but it looks like Danny Ainge may be content sitting back and filling out small needs this summer.

After introducing the team's newest player, first-round pick Robert Williams of Texas A&M, Ainge addressed the team's offseason as the league's free agency period gets set to begin.

When asked about trading for another superstar, Ainge said it didn't seem likely that a move could happen.

"First of all, we don't have the cap space," Ainge said. "Second of all, we don't really have a need. We have really good players, so we need to surround them with role players with the rest of our roster that have a chance to win."

However, Ainge didn't completely shoot down the idea, saying if the right player was available, they'd take a look.

"If I feel like it'll help our team, we explore every trade of players of certain magnitude," Ainge said. "Superstar, first-ballot Hall of Fame type players, we're going to take a look and kick the tires and see if there's something there, that's all."
