BC's Robinson selected by Clippers in first round

BROOKLYN — Jerome Robinson, who bypassed his senior year at Boston College to play in the NBA, was selected by the Los Angeles Clippers with the 13th pick in the first round.

Robinson averaged 20.7 points and 3.4 assists during his junior season at BC, leading the Eagles to a 19-16 record and a trip to the NIT. After the season ended, Robinson declared for the draft without signing with an agent, and found teams were high on his potential.

No other Boston College player has ever been drafted higher. He's the first NBA Lottery selection from BC.

After being selected by the Clippers, Robinson described himself to ESPN as "a great overall player, somebody that can score at all three levels, play multiple positions and play-make as well."

"He takes so much pride in being at his best and he gave us everything he had. We will be telling the story of Jerome Robinson for years - a person who believed in us, gave us everything he had, and now he is reaping the rewards," BC head coach Jim Christian said.

He showed an ability to explode offensively, most notably scoring 46 points against Notre Dame in February and was named First-Team All-ACC at season's end, finishing second in the race for ACC Player of the Year.

"I am incredibly proud of Jerome and thrilled to see him fulfill his dreams as he takes his next step as a member of the Los Angeles Clippers organization," Christian said. "As a coach, and as a coaching staff, we want to do our best to help every one of our players grow in every way and live out their dreams. It is so fulfilling to see how Jerome has matured and grown both as a player and a person."
