Healthy Swaps for Every Meal

These days many people are looking for quick ways to get healthy and eat better. March is National Nutrition Month and a great time to sharpen up your nutrition knowledge to help take the right steps toward healthy eating.  Registered dietician and Aldi Advisory Council member Elizabeth Ward offers some simple, healthy swaps to help you put your best fork forward.

First, swap out your coffee shop muffin for healthy, whole grain oatmeal. Very easy to make at home or tote to work.

Next, making your lunch at home, like a hearty sandwich, saves money and calories!  Aldi provides great options (bread and meat) for those with gluten sensitivities.

And dinner, substitute fish for your normal poultry or beef.  Fish is recommended at least twice a week because the omega-3 fats offers several benefits to your brain, vision, and heart. Find the delicious shrimp tostada at www.aldi.us.

Finally, we all love to snack and can often get trapped into eating too much of something unhealthy.  Liz suggests snacking on nuts because of their proteins, vitamins, and minerals.
