The Yarmouth Police Department posted a photo of the cartoon and slammed the paper for printing the cartoon.

"SHAMEFUL...Eight Police Officers ambushed and shot to death in the past week and this is posted in the Cape Cod Times. Cape Cod and the Islands Law Enforcement and their Families and Friends deserve much better than this."

Yarmouth Police Department's post has been shared more than 1,000 times and has hundreds of comments. Some people say they will never buy the paper again and other's say the paper should issue an apology.

The cartoon is by Dave Granlund, a nationally syndicated editorial cartoonist from Massachusetts.
