Police ID Worcester man, 19, shot and killed in own driveway

WORCESTER, Mass. — The 19-year-old man who was shot in his own driveway in Worcester has died, city police confirm to Boston 25 News. Law enforcement continues to search for the suspect a day after the incident occurred on Friday afternoon.

The victim has been identified as Brandon Dirsa, 19, of Worcester.

According to police, the shooting happened in front of Dirsa's house on Maxwell Street.

The victim had just gotten back from the store, family members say. He sustained serious injuries in the shooting and was in the ICU following the shooting. Police confirmed that Dirsa died on Saturday evening.

Neighbors say the shooting doesn't appear to be random. Several neighbors say they heard three shots a slight pause and then a couple more shots and then they saw a man running southeast through the apartments nearby.

"I heard it and I literally came down the stairs and everybody was screaming and stuff," said Blake Prentiss, a family friend. "I don’t understand what happened. This is bad. But he’s a really good kid - he loves baseball, he loves Fortnite, he loves his family a lot, he loves his niece, he loves his brother, he loves his family."

Police continue to investigate the shooting and those responsible for it.
