Woman who didn't know she was pregnant gives birth at Medford home

A woman who was unaware she was pregnant gave birth at a home in Medford, according to the Medford Fire Department.

The department said they were called to the home for a report of a woman in labor, and responding firefighters arrived on scene to find that a woman had already given birth to a baby girl.

Medford Fire said she was on the entranceway floor with the child alongside a Medford Police officer, and the officer had wrapped the baby in a blanket to keep her warm.

In a twist, the department said that the woman had no idea she was pregnant before going into labor at the home.

The department said she was breathing on her own and regaining color, and firefighters provided supplemental oxygen and cut the umbilical cord.

The mother was then transported with the child to the hospital for more evaluations.
