Woman who called 911 on Blackstone home speaks out

BLACKSTONE, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- The details are bonechilling: A Blackstone neighbor describing her encounter with Erika Murray after she found two of her children lying in piles of filth.

Not only is she a neighbor, but she is the woman who first clued the world in on the horrors inside the home there.

"I said, 'What are you doing? What are you doing?'" said the woman, who asked that we not use her name or show her face. "She kind of laughed it off and shrugged her shoulders."

She describes what she saw as horrific.

"I heard them screaming from the streets," she said. "Two babies."

The 5-month-old was laying in the middle of the bed, covered in feces. The 3-year-old was sitting, completely covered in feces, rocking back and forth.

That's when she called police.

"I asked them if I could pick them up, because they were crying, they needed me," she said. "They told me not to pick them up until police arrived."

Once officers came to the home, she picked the 5-month-old up, taking her shirt off to clean the baby.
