Two adults hit by car in Saugus Friday night

SAUGUS, Mass. — A 68-year-old woman and two children were struck by a car on Route 99 in Saugus, according to Mass. State Police. The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Friday night.

State Police have sent their Crime Scene Services and Accident Reconstruction Team to assist in the investigation, which Saugus Police are leading.

There has been no update on the condition of the victims at time of publication.

Editor's Note: A previous version of this story reported that a woman and two children were hit by a car. It has been corrected to say that a 57-year-old woman and an adult man had been struck by a vehicle while crossing the street.

Both sustained injuries, with the woman's being life threatening. Both were taken to Boston hospitals by ambulance.

The driver of the car, a 67-year-old Malden man, stayed at the scene.

The crash is under investigation by the Saugus Police and the State Police Accident Reconstruction Team.
