Woman reports attempted abduction while out for jog

SUNDERLAND, Mass. — It was a close call for a jogger in Sunderland on Sunday morning.

The woman called police at around 9:20 a.m. to report a possible attempted abduction.

She told officers she was running north on River Road at around 9:00 a.m. with her dog when a brown-ish SUV heading south approached her and stopped.

According to the woman, the man told her to "Get in." before getting out of his car and walking towards her. As he kept getting closer and talking to her, she continued running and yelling "No".

The man is described as an older, dark-skinned man, possibly wearing a red shirt and light-colored pants, with prominent facial bone structure and very short hair.

At one point, another car was driving toward them, which prompted the man to get back in his car and leave. He was last seen heading south on Route 47, River Road in Sunderland.

Police are asking anyone who may have information on this incident to come forward. Anyone with home surveillance who lives on Route 47 between the Center of Town and the town-line of Hadley is also asked to look it over and contact police.
