Woman hospitalized following rollover crash in Chelsea

CHELSEA, Mass. — A woman has been hospitalized following a two-car rollover crash in Chelsea on Monday evening.

According to police, the crash happened on Route 1 North beyond the Sixth Street ramp when one car crashed into another.

That caused the car to flip over the median wall, falling 25 feet on its roof to the southbound side of Route 1.

The victim, identified as a 43-year-old woman, was transported to the Massachusetts General Hospital, but the extent of her injuries is unknown at this time.

She was conscious and alert when she was transported. First responders were amazed at the fact that the woman had just been involved in a rollover crash but suffered non-life threatening injuries.

According to police, the southbound lane the car landed on after flipping over the median was closed down for construction during the evening rush hour. They say that might have saved her life.

No further details have been released.
