• Wild weather downs trees, triggers tornado warnings on the Cape

Severe thunderstorms triggered multiple tornado warnings on Cape Cod Monday night, as torrential rain and powerful winds downed numerous trees.

While there were no confirmed reports of a tornado in Barnstable County, the wild weather caused a tree to fall on a house in Harwich and debris to scatter on roads. The height of the storm hit between 10 and 11 p.m. on the Cape, and in West Dennis, wind gusts of up to 50 mph were reported.

And just as daylight reveals the extent of the damage, another round of strong thunderstorms are expected to blow through southeastern Mass. from 5:30 to 7 Tuesday morning.
