WFXT's over-the-air signal coverage changes

DEDHAM, Mass. — WFXT is rebuilding its transmitter site and antenna to increase power and send signal to areas it has not covered before.

During construction of the new facilities, we will be broadcasting from a different transmitter site on an antenna that has reduced coverage in the Fitchburg area to the northwest of Boston and the Barnstable area to the southeast. Cable and satellite viewers will not be impacted by the construction.

We are testing our temporary transmitter site. By Tuesday morning, Oct. 23, we will return to our normal transmitter site and will remain on the normal transmitter through the World Series.

Following the World Series, we will resume transmitting from the temporary site. If you are currently having issues receiving WFXT, then you will likely have trouble after November 1.

High-quality outdoor antennas or amplified indoor antennas may help with marginal reception of our signal, but some viewers will not be able to receive our signal until construction of the upgraded facilities is complete in August 2019.

Viewers who lose signal may have the option to subscribe to a traditional cable or satellite TV provider or may subscribe to an online TV provider such as Hulu LiveTV, YouTubeTV, PlayStation Vue, FuboTV, or similar providers.

Viewers can also download our Boston 25 News app for free on smart TV's, Roku, Amazon Firestick, Apple TV, on certain gaming consoles, or on your phone or tablet for streaming newscasts and up to date news and weather information.
